ON INVISIBILITY

First, make yourself strange

Burn with intensity to make the bravest and most arrogant

Question their safety in unguarded moments.

Then, state the obvious

So they think you a fool

And the final ingredient: silence,

A refusal to speak when there is nothing to say.

Build trust through all this by causing no one harm

And you will see them change; for you will have disturbed them

By being an enigma

A jagged piece of randomness in their daily routine

A wild card they hadn't planned on and would rather not deal with;

And because no trouble is physically present

And only contact with your mind threatens their slumber

You will find yourself ignored

Alone

Invisible.

Now the world is yours.

As long as you can live in it alone.
